Cashback Potential Annual Earnings £2000 taxable (excluding cashback from Click Throughs, Beat the Bookie and Beat the House - included on their own pages)
Cashback Sites Cashback sites give you money back in return for clicking through to suppliers' sites and buying or acquiring their products, services or accounts. Rather than paying for adverts that may or may not reach you, these companies are reaching you directly through these cashback sites, so are willing to pay for the cashback instead of the advert. The majority of links on cashback sites are for products whereby you are getting a percentage discount through cashback. However, what we're interested in on this page is those links whereby the return to you actually exceeds the outlay - making money rather than saving money. We are therefore looking at 'flat rate' cashback rather than percentage cashback, where the flat rate exceeds the cost to you. First up are bank accounts and miscellaneous free trials. Check the terms and conditions for the bank accounts, and ensure there are no annual fees for all. Once the cashback has been credited you can close if you wish. The free trials range from magazines to music downloads: you get the products and cashback on top. Next are on-line bookies and on-line casinos. Usually you will be paid cashback for opening an account, depositing and wagering a certain amount - then typically you will also get an introductory bonus at the gambling site itself. For both the bookies and the casinos, you can neutralise the risk in the wagering part, using the loophole systems detailed in our Beat the Bookie and Beat the House pages. The result is you come away with both the cashback money and the introductory bonuses - a twin win. Then there are some unlikely sources for making money. Depending on your circumstances - and using the odd trick - it may be possible to get flat rate cashback that exceeds the cost of particular insurances and/or mobile phone deal, thereby turning these from expenses into income on your cashflow. Details for these can be found on our Insurances and Phone/Mail pages. Lastly there are pure clickthroughs, whereby the clickthrough earns the money, without buying or acquiring anything, such as clicking through onto a shopbot comparison service. Only pence will be paid for this, but do a lot each day and it can be a reasonable earner. See our Click Throughs page for full details. It should also be noted that most of the sites offer both sign-up and refer-a-friend bonuses, increasing your overall earnings. Cash back normally takes 1-2 months to filter through from the merchants and is typically paid by BACS or Paypal. Cashback is not guaranteed - tracking failures do occur. Just be aware to delete your cookies and disable your advert-blocking and anti-pop up software before using a link, to ensure you have the best chance of tracking. Afterwards re-activate the blocking software. Monitor your cashback tracking. If any don't appear within the expected timeframe (varies from merchant to merchant) then submit an earnings enquiry, which the site will take up on your behalf. It is wise to set up or use a separate email address for the cashback sites so you can register for all the 3rd party mail-outs and offers to increase your earnings and direct the fall-out there, without bogging down your main inbox. This table contains a combination of the highest ranking cashback sites in terms of visitors and the best sites in terms of cashback rates and opportunities: Website | Details | Make money through | Quidco | £5 annual fee deducted from your first earnings that come through (no earnings: no fee). Banking Cashback Banks and Finance Houses sometimes offer cashback on bank accounts and savings accounts, direct into your account. It's important to clarify that we are talking about genuine cashback on FREE accounts here, not the kind of cashback deal that you may be offered on mortgages or hire purchases whereby you PAY for the cashback through higher rates or higher premiums ON TOP of the interest you are already paying them for product - that's a twin-lose. We are not interested here in the relative merits of the bank accounts in terms of interest rates, customer service, etc. Only that they are standing fee-free and offer either cashback or a freebie.
Recent bank account offers have included both Halifax and RBS offering £100 cashback for opening a current account with them, and Smile offering a case of wine for the same. Often there are criteria to be met in terms of letting them switch your direct debits to them and you paying in a certain amount. The key to taking advantage here is to have a second current account open that you put a couple of piddly direct debits on that you can use as your switching source, so that you don't have to go through the hassle of switching your main current account each time and all that it entails. You'll also need some spare cash to meet any paying in criteria. Once you've received the cashback you are free to close if you wish. |
